Even if we are going through hard times...

I went to ITMA exhibition for the first time in 1975 in Milan. It was very big, they became smaller within the time. The first textile machinery exhibition I know was organized by Y›lmaz A€abey from Tekstil Servis together with Hiseyin Avunduk at the attic flat over the entrance lobby of newly opened Sheraton Hotel. Then great number of representatives emerged after Turgut Özal liberalized the foreign trade and they started to represent not only Western European machineries but also the machineries of the whole world. Everyone started to organize an exhibition everywhere. Since it is not possible to participate in all of them, we decided to organize a single exhibition in the leadership of Süha Erler company and promote that exhibition however we could not realize it. Also at the beginning of 1990, Mr. A€abey wanted to bring us together and to organize a good machinery exhibition in Izmit; however he could not realize it due to earthquake disaster.
BUR-TEX that we also exhibited and had in Bursa in 2002 was a good exhibition and it went on very well.
Then there was ITM 2004 Exhibition; this organization was a great success, it was higher than all of the expectations.

Even if we are going through hard times we should participate in ITM 2009 in order to show that we are here

The system that everyone tries to establish in textile sector in Turkiye is Italian model. It should be required to be very fast and creative in order to realize this. We have a very big trouble now, because there is a global problem. Europe, USA and Japan are experiencing the same economic problem. One of my foreign friends, who has experienced such an economic problem before said that; the postponed purchases increase immediately when the threat is over. Because people delay their purchases during hard times and when this threat disappears the market becomes alive since will they make the purchases that they delayed. That is why it is required to stand during these days without being depressed and show yourself. I think we have to exhibit at ITM Exhibition for that reason. We need to show that "we are here and we maintain our existence although we seem to going through a difficult period."
